Carlos Caetano Biscainho Fernandes (A Coruña 1968), PhD in Galician and Portuguese Philology, works as a Senior Professor at the Faculty of Philology of the University of A Coruña. His main research interests are Theatre Studies, especially Galician theatre in its relationship with other Portuguese-speaking cultures. In this sense, he has worked in various research projects related to the recovery of the Galician theatrical heritage and is a member of the Editorial Board of the Francisco Pillado Mayor Library and Archive of the University of A Coruña, within which he directs the Blue Series of its publications (Galician dramatic literature).

He is the author of the monographs Fernando Osorio do Campo. Unha vida sen treguas (2017), Un país desde as táboas. 125 anos de teatro galego (2008), A Escola Dramática Galega na configuración do sistema teatral (2007) y Conformando o brinquedo. Reflexións á volta da preparación do actor (2004). Furthermore, he is a co-author of the volumes O ideario teatral das Irmandades da Fala. Estudio e antoloxía (2002) and Talía na Crónica de Nós. Dez anos de teatro galego, 1990-1999 (2000).

In 2016 he was awarded the XXI Ricardo Carvalho Calero Prize for Linguistic Research. Since 2018 he has been a member of the Galician Theatre Academy.
