Half chronicle, half critical reflection, Talía na Crónica de Nós charts the challenges and triumphs of the theatre in Galicia in the 1990s. In keeping with the socially reflexive nature of dramatic art, Lourenço Módia and Biscaínha Fernandes’s survey of the professionally produced plays from the time uses a sociological approach rather than a critical literary or production-based analysis, examining each play in relation to the mechanisms and institutions that made its production possible: arts and public policy, distribution channels, venues, media coverage, publications, etc. The study also investigates aspects of actor training and the amateur theatre scene in Galicia during the period.
