Diego Rivadulla's doctoral thesis obtains 'cum laude' honors
January 2020

The dissertation Novela e memoria cultural: a ficcionalización do franquismo na narrativa galega (2000-2015), with an international doctorate mention, was carried out within the Literary Studies Program and directed by prof. Carlos Paulo Martínez Pereiro; the thesis obtained the highest qualification.

The board, chaired by Antonio Saez Delgado (University of Évora), was also formed by Ascensión Rivas Hernández (University of Salamanca) and Teresa López (University of A Coruña). The members of the committee valued the work presented as excellent and innovative, and highlighted its methodological rigor.

The thesis carries out an exhaustive analysis of the forms of representation of the Franco regime in the novels of the period 2000-2015 from the perspective of cultural memory studies to show how these literary practices function as means of constructing the collective memory of Galician society in the 21st century, by means of which the authors participate in the public debate around the recovery and management of the recent past.

ILLA wants to express its warmest congratulations to the new doctor.
