Xoán López Viñas, a member of ILLA, has successfully passed the tests to become a Contracted PhD Lecturer today.
Professor López Viñas began his academic career as a FPU scholarship holder in the area of Galician and Portuguese Philology at the University of A Coruña, where he also held the positions of Assistant and Assistant Doctor.
His main lines of research are Historical Linguistics, Synchronic Grammar and Ecdotics and Textual Criticism. His doctoral thesis, on word formation in medieval Galician, won the extraordinary doctoral award and is partially published in the volume Dicionario de afixos do galego medieval (2015). The evaluation committee for the position, chaired by the dean of the Faculty of Philology, Mª Jesús Lorenzo Modia, enthusiastically valued the teaching and research career of prof. López Viñas, his didactic proposals and his future research projects, presented in the course of the tests held today.
