Article by Carlos Paulo Martínez Pereiro on Ferreira Gullar
5th July 2019

Prof. Carlos Paulo Martínez Pereiro, a member of ILLA, collaborates in the monograph Ferreira Gullar: poesía, arte, pensamiento, published by the Center for Brazilian Studies at the University of Salamanca and the Brazilian Academy of Letters.

The work –"Relâmpagos — Dizer o ver como crítica de arte"–, on the one hand, tries to analyze the obstinate rigor of the artistic criticism that the poet and essayist Ferreira Gullar (1930-2016) produced in Brazil, throughout his long career. On the other hand, it also aims at reflecting, from a holistic perspective, a position of debate and a vindictive intention, upon some aspects of the work Relâmpagos: inter alia, addressing the fact that this outstanding book represents the encounter of a perceptual and evaluative literature with artistic diversity —that is to say, an intercrossed savoir faire and savoir défaire that delimits it and to which it obeys the speech of this maranhense, winner of the “Camões Prize” in 2010.
